How Quire handles setup, sync, and purchase data.

Quire is a setup website and Android reader environment. This policy explains what information is collected, why it is used, and how to contact us about privacy requests.

Information we collect

Account and license data

When you sign in, Quire receives your Firebase user ID, email address, and license status so setup can confirm that a conversion is allowed.

Reader setup data

During setup, Quire reads basic Android device information such as manufacturer, model, Android version, SDK version, setup state, and whether Quire is already device owner.

Book transfer data

If you use Book Drop or Drive Sync, EPUB and PDF files are uploaded or mirrored through Quire storage so the paired reader can download them. Quire stores file metadata such as name, size, content type, and delivery status.

Google Drive data

If you connect Google Drive, Quire creates or reuses a Quire Books folder, lists supported EPUB/PDF files, mirrors selected files for reader delivery, and stores the refresh token server-side. The reader never receives your Google token.

Payment data

Purchases are handled by Lemon Squeezy. Quire receives license or checkout identifiers needed to activate the purchased plan, but payment card details are handled by Lemon Squeezy.

Why we use data

To provide compatibility checks, guided Android setup, device-owner conversion, recovery, and restore flows.
To pair a browser account with a reader using a short-lived setup code and device-scoped credentials.
To deliver EPUB/PDF files through Book Drop or optional Google Drive Sync.
To verify paid licenses, prevent abuse, process support requests, and keep the service secure.

Processors and recipients

Firebase and Google Cloud for authentication, hosting, the Quire cloud API, database records, and book transfer storage.
Google Drive when a user explicitly connects Drive Sync for the Quire Books folder.
Lemon Squeezy for checkout, payment processing, fraud prevention, taxes, invoices, and license handoff.

These services may process data in countries outside your country of residence. We use them to operate Quire and rely on their contractual, technical, and legal safeguards.

Retention

Account, license, provisioning, device, inbox, and progress records are kept while your Quire account or paired reader is active. Temporary setup codes expire quickly. Uploaded or mirrored book files are kept only as needed for sync and delivery, unless you ask us to remove them earlier.

Your choices and rights

You can disconnect cloud sync from the reader settings.
You can restore normal Android and release a reader slot.
You can request access, correction, deletion, restriction, portability, or objection by emailing us.
You may lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

Children

Quire is intended for adults who own or administer the device being converted. A parent or guardian should manage setup and account access for children.
